Our General Philosophy

Elizabeth Moga, LCSW

“What is most important to me as a therapist is to create a trusting, respectful, and supportive relationship with my clients so that they can better understand themselves and their relationships with others….but perhaps the most important thing of all is to try and provide them with hope, hope that things can get better.”

Elizabeth earned her Masters in Clinical Social Work from Smith College in Massachusetts and has over seven years of experience working with children, adolescents, families, and adults. She has worked in a variety of settings including outpatient and residential treatment settings, and currently at The Children’s Hospital assessing children in crisis.

Elizabeth brings a tremendous amount of passion and energy to her work. Through education and encouragement, she strives to empower clients to pursue healthier and more productive ways to deal with stressors related parenting, grief & loss, relational problems, anxiety, trauma and life’s general challenges. In addition to her work with adolescents and adults, she is passionate about women’s issues. Elizabeth stresses the importance of validating and empowering women who are juggling their various roles as parents, partners, daughters and friends to help them to maintain a healthy work/life balance.

Elizabeth’s clinical interventions derive from evidenced based practices that focus on building upon the strengths of the client and seeks to create awareness around core irrational thoughts and automatic responses that may not be helpful to the client. Instead, she helps them find new ways to respond to stress and understand the powerful mind/body relationship.

Elizabeth has an expertise in parenting. She led a parenting group in Los Angeles for over two years where she helped individuals and couples navigate the challenges of being a parent amidst the other pressures in their lives. Elizabeth guides parents to improve communication and listening skills and brings awareness to how their families of origin (their own childhood) may be impacting them in their current role as parents. Her goal is to provide parents alternative options to consider in raising their own children.
